The New Hampshire state legislature legalized gambling in the state for the first time on April 23, 1933. Under ownership of the New Hampshire Breeders Association, Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H. re-opened after a two-year shut down and $200,000 in renovations.. On July 27, 1933, Grand Circuit Harness Racing returned to Rockingham Park with a 16-day meet. Portland, Maine photographer Guy Kendall documented four days of the Grand Circuit meet in August 1933. Kendall's photo album, marked 1933a, contains race day photos as well as race cards for August 2, August 5, August 11, and 12, 1933.
