Abstract/ Summary
Journal for the Schr. William Penn, a cod fishing vessel out of Kennebunk (Me.) whose master was Captain George H. Curtis. The log records a Fishing voyage from Cape Porpoise to various destinations, including the Western Banks, Bank Quereau, Grand Banks, Magdalen Island, Browns Bank, Spanish River Bank, Cape St. George, and the Strait of Belle Isle. Includes much reference to weather conditions and regular accounts of catch for individual crew members, including total number of daily catch for April 1853 in front of Journal. Back of Journal contains handwritten instructions for finding the time and longitude by chronometer.
