How We Become Blood: A Collection of Poetry and Prose-Poetry
Abstract
This creative thesis is a collection of poems which focus primarily on the issues of female embodiment and family. Its purpose is to share truths about my life and the lives of others. It is entitled How We Become Blood. The themes ofthis poetry include the life of my grandmother and my own coming of age, birth, growth, the art of healing the self and others. This thesis examines the life of a woman and women's roles and bodies using the language of mythology and archetypes. It also explores differences between autobiography and myth.
