Abstract
Upward Bound is a program designed to prepare participating students for college. The aim of the program is to provide motivation, as well as academic and financial resources for low-income and first generation college students to bring the dream of attending college a reality. Students at the University of Maine Math/Science Upward Bound program complete an inquiry-based individual project with some form of data analysis each summer. Using this sample of students, this study aims to find how these inquiry-based projects change these students' attitude toward statistics and academic performance in the field of statistics.
