Description
Qhataqasapatallaqta is an important Inca storage and habitation site overlooking Cusco. It was first excavated by Dean E. Arnold and the late José Anacleto Gonzáles Corrales in 1972-73 and has, subsequently been excavated by both fully credentialed Cusco archaeologists and by licenciatura students. Its faunal remains were incorporated into a Ph.D. dissertation and some of the human remains discovered there have been studied and published. Until now, however, almost nothing has been published on the site itself, although licenciatura thesis and excavation reports are housed in Cusco archives. In this monograph Arnold reports on the excavation work he did at Qhataqasapatallaqta with José Gonzáles and on his analysis of finds from the site. Monica Barnes presents a summary of subsequent excavations and studies, and Sergio Chávez Farfán has contributed a brief biography of his childhood friend, José Gonzáles.
