Abstract/ Summary
This document is a quick guide to using spreadsheets for working with survey point constellations.
Modern survey data collection is often performed using total station units synced to digital data collectors running software to automatically calculate coordinates and elevations for surveyed points. However, it is sometimes necessary to complete calculations from field notes or make adjustments to survey constellations, and this may often be done straight-forwardly using spreadsheets.
Instructions described here were developed in Microsoft Excel 2016. The University of Maine licenses Microsoft Office products for academic use by students and faculty. Excel may be downloaded for student-owned computers at umaine.edu/it/software.
An annotated companion document implementing the functions described here, Survey Point Adjustments.xlsx, is available as an associated file for this document.
