The UMaine women return with eight players from a year ago and boast an impressive group of newcomers. The recruiting class features the USA Today Vermont Player of the Year, the State of Maine’s Miss Basketball, and two other players over six-foot, four inches tall.
In addition to the new talent, last year’s team gelled together at the end of last season by winning five of its last seven games, including two conference playoff upsets. The lone worry entering the 1993 season, is the loss of the team’s leading scorer and rebounder from a year ago, Heather Briggs. Expectations for the UMaine Women will once again be high.
