Description

Bananas and Jiggs - Jiggs was owned by Wm. McCort of Montreal, Canada.Mr. McCort and Jiggs were guests at the Hotel Atlantis, Kennebunk Beach, Maine, Summer of 1923. George Stackpole '24, the bear's handler, was employed at this same hotel and Bananas IV spent the summer there also. Jiggs became enamored with the bear and they played together all summer. Mr. McCort and Jiggs returned to Montrealin August. Jiggs pined away, would not eat and lost weight. Mr. McCort shipped the dog back to Stackpole and thus the famous team were reunited.
