Abstract/ Summary
In the United States, there is an ongoing nurse shortage that has been escalated by the COVID-19 Pandemic (American Nurses Association, 2023). The nursing shortage is so significant that it is estimated that over one million nurses will be needed by the year 2030 (American Nurses Association, 2023). The leading cause of nurse turnover is burnout leading to decreased energy, compassion fatigue, and lack of job satisfaction (American Nurses Association, 2023). This can be caused by feelings of stress or being overwhelmed, and not feeling supported by management (American Nurses Association, 2023). These feelings can lead to decreased job satisfaction, unpleasant patient interactions, decreased confidence levels, and can ultimately decrease the quality of care patients receive (Najafi & Nasiri, 2023).
