Description

John A. Donahue graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Fifth Year Pulp & Paper certificate in 1980.

Donahue spent most of his career at Sappi North America, where he worked in technical, product quality, and manufacturing operations. His roles included serving as the Managing Director of Operations at the Somerset and Westbrook Mills, Vice President of Manufacturing, and Vice President of Procurement and Vice President of Manufacturing.

Donahue served as a member of the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation's Board since 2004 and as a Vice President since 2008. He was elected Chair of the Executive Committee in 2013, and as Chair of the Board in 2015. He was also Vice Chair of the Maine Pulp & Paper Association for three years, and Chair for two terms. Donahue received PIMA's Mill Manager of the Year award in 2007, in recognition of his achievements at the Somerset and Westbrook mills. In 2017, he received the coveted President's Award from Sappi North America in recognition for his many contributions to the company.
