Description

David E. McIntyre, a native of Munising, Michigan, received his B.S. in Chemistry from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He earned a Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin prior to the renaming and relocation of the program as the Institute of Paper Science and Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He later served as an alumni member on the Institute’s Board of Trustees.

McIntyre started his paper industry career in 1968 with Westvaco Corporation in New York City and later in Luke, Maryland. He worked with St. Regis Paper Company, Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company, and Champion International. He rejoined Westvaco in 1996 moving from Bowater Incorporated. In 1998, McIntyre was named a Senior Vice President responsible for the company's engineering and research, as well as capital planning and management of the Company's operating units.

McIntyre’s association with UMaine Pulp and Paper Foundation association began in 1992 as a Foundation Vice president. He was elected President in 1993 and Chair in 1995, serving a two-year term.
