Description

Chocolate or brown photograph of men in Joseph Emery Smart's woods crew standing around a fire eating a meal of baked beans and biscuits. The woods are snowy. J.E. Smart, Sr. is seated, wearing an early pair of earmuffs under his hat. He balances a tin plate on his knees. Also in the group are Sam Dearborn, Joseph Emery Smart, Jr., Lucien S. Smart, and W.A. Smart (order not determined). One additional man is unidentified. The men are all dressed in winter clothing to work in the woods. Another man, also wearing earmuffs, pours a hot beverage into his tin cup. undated, Late 19th-Early 20th Century. See NAFOH 2462.
