Sepia photograph of an unidentified man, possibly Joseph Emery Smart, paddling a canoe toward the small wood and stone dock at the camp on Smart's Island, Mattamiscontis Lake. Two women wearing white, their wide-brimmed hats shading their faces, are seated now in the canoe in the middle and bow. The rider in the bow holds her paddle horizontal, out of the water as the man steers the vessel to dock. undated, late 19th-early 20th century. See NAFOH 2462.
