Abstract/ Summary
This report documents suspected and confirmed fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses in Maine during August 2022 as well as for the period January 2021–August 2022. During August, the proportion of fatal overdoses averaged 6.8% of total overdoses. Monthly proportions of 2022 fatalities have fluctuated from a low of 5.1% in May 2022 to a high of 8.0% in April. During the first eight months of 2022, the average number of overdoses per month was approximately 852 (58 fatal and 794 nonfatal incidents).
