Black and white action photograph of the finish of the first heat of the Free for All Trot on Friday, July 26, 1940 at Cumberland Fairgrounds in West Cumberland, Maine. In the foreground bay gelding Kelly, wearing head number one, O'Connell up, approaches the finish line in a time of 2.07. Finishing in second place is bay gelding Afton, Ackerman up as bay gelding Calumet Calling, Wendall Wathen up, showed in third. Photographer Guy Kendall's signature was trimmed off when the photograph was mounted in the album.
