Black and white action photograph of bay gelding, pacer Single Trumpet wearing head number one, Frank Safford up, winning the first heat of the 2.09 Pace in a time of 2.06 1/2 on Thursday, July 25, 1940, at the Cumberland Fairgrounds in West Cumberland, Maine. Single Trumpet claimed the first two heats of the contest before being scratched by the track veterinarian for the third heat.
