Black and white action photograph of Major Ward beating His Eminence on the ice on Tripp Lake, Poland, February 1939. Bay mare, Lady Dillon, can be seen in the distance, trailing the leaders. The photograph is the first in the Kendall collection to capture ice races in Maine and is signed in the lower right corner by Guy Kendall. Though the race program notes the race ran three heats, Kendall made finish notations for only the first heat.
