Sepia tone action photo of the first race of the Thursday, October 14, 1937 Topsham Fair races at Topsham, Maine. Brown gelding, Ak-Sar-Ben wearing head number three, Pierce Chappelle up, out distanced the field of horses, claiming the win in a time of 2.16 1/2. The photograph is signed in the lower left corner by photographer Guy Kendall.
