Abstract

"Finding myself alone, there was only one course to turn to and that was to rethink and change from within." The project I am writing about is that of a traditional time that took place in 1939 when I was a child of 12, and of the consequences of WW2. Realizing of course, that many such memoirs have been written, I feel that mine has an additional dimension: I was virtually alone, without even the hope of reuniting with my close relatives, as was the cases of others in that situation. I want to explore my attitude and resolutions on how to face a new life, in a new country, a strange language, and most of all a reliance on myself.
