Project Abstract/ Summary
From June 9 to September 1,2001,, the Hudson Museum will feature "Echoes Across the Himalayas. " This exhibit explores the lives of Tibetans in exile in Mussoorie, India at the Tibetan Homes School for refugee children. Founded by the Dalai Lama in 1962 to provide a safe residential environment for children escaping Chinese oppression in Tibet, the school allows the students to retain Tibetan cultural values and beliefs. "Echoes Across the Himalayas" illustrates the children's struggle to maintain cultural identity while [ïing as exiles in a foreign land.
