Abstract/ Summary

For the first time since volleyball returned to Orono in 1999, head coach Sue Medley can look up and down her bench and say, “We’ve got experience.” After starting only one senior last year and seeing the program’s first three-year letter winner, the UMaine volleyball program now has the depth and experience it may have been lacking in previous years. “We had an extraordinarily young team last year and some younger players were able to get a lot of playing time in,” said Medley, who is in her fifth season with the Black Bears. “In addition, we have brought in some newcomers that may be new to the collegiate level, but have seen a lot of games, a lot of situations and a lot of (ball) touches.”
