Abstract/ Summary

A scanned version of the transcript of a speech given by then University of Maine Chancellor Donald R. McNeil at the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems National Assembly in Denver, Colorado, September, 1972. McNeil was chairman of an Information Exchange Procedures Steering Committee for the Information Exchange Procedures Task Force.

The introduction printed within the transcript noted, "As the chief executive officer of the University of Maine, Dr. Donald R. McNeil must be concerned not only with academia as it relates to some 23,000 students but also with the administration of eight campuses and some 4,000 managerial, faculty, and support personnel. This latter responsibility has led to his association with such organizations as the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO), and others which have as a primary objective the improved management of higher educational institutions."

McNeil's speech discusses higher education assessment, accountability, and information reporting and exchange with state legislatures.
