Abstract

This article discusses activities during the war of 1812 commissioned by Massachusetts Governor Caleb Strong to explore the possibility of New England negotiating peace terms with Great Britain. It highlights clues to the identity of an emissary sent to Sir John Sherbrooke, Lt. Governor of Nova Scotia and Commander of the Castine expedition.
