Description

Black and white photo of well-known Maine horseman, trainer, and driver Frank P. Fox driving a high-wheel sulky dating to mid-to-late 1800s to early 1900s. Fox is driving Luke Bell, out of his own stable, providing an exhibition of the high-wheel sulky, likely at the 1931 Skowhegan Fair.

Kendall noted in the August 20, 1931 Skowhegan Fair race program that Fox was "79 years of age." Posters displayed on the judges stand in the background advertise the Oxford County Fair "Between So. Paris and Norway, ME" and the Gorham Fair on September 1, 2, and 3.
