Description

Sepia tone, action photo of the finish of the first heat of the 2.17 Trot at the Cornish Fairgrounds and Trotting Park, Cornish, Maine, Wednesday, August 5, 1936. Bay gelding, Daybreak Express wearing saddle number two, Patterson up, crosses the finish at the front of the field. Chestnut mare, LaRita Frisco (with the white blaze), Morgan up, finished in second place. Nancy Arion crossed the line in third place followed by Hinieyou in fourth. The photograph includes a view of the judge's stand in the background, including broadsides advertising other fairs in 1936. Also visible in the background, a loud speaker truck with the text, The Voice Machine Public Address System.
