Description

Black and white photo of trotting horse Peter Ibbetson and owner/driver Frank P. Fox. Peter Ibbetson scored a controversial win at the Central Maine Fair Races, winning three of four heats despite a protest filed by James Hennessey of Somerville, Mass., owner of George Harvester, alleging that Fox was using a "road buggy" instead of a proper sulky. The Kennebec Journal reported that the judges ruled that Fox was using a "sulkiette" since the vehicle lacked springs. George Harvester, race favorite, finished second.
