Photographer Guy Kendall captions the photo as "Calumet Charles wins from Forbes Direct," but the race program does not list Forbes Direct as appearing in any of the contests for this day of the fair. Also, the horse Kendall identifies as Calumet Charles is wearing saddle number three while Charles was identified by the program as saddle number one. These discrepancies cannot be explained.
