Abstract

Official race program for the Cornish Early Meet held at the Cornish Fairgrounds and Trotting Park in Cornish, Maine, Friday, July 1, 1938. The program includes the names of race track officials and the Maine Racing Commission Chairman, as well as rules governing the Daily Double and pari-mutuel betting. Guy Kendall notes in the program that the 5th through 9th races were rained out on this day.

The program includes Guy Kendall's notes on changes in race entries, race finishes, and times. Kendall also notes amounts for bets he placed in the upper left corner of each page of the program, and the outcome of these bets in the upper right corner for each race. Kendall notes in this program that his hit the Daily Double winning $19.80. According to the rules noted in the program, "The Daily Double play is on the first and third races but all tickets for the Double must be purchased prior to the running of the first race."
