Description

In September 1975, the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine approved the creation of a School of Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences. The purpose for such a school was to amalgamate the various performing arts units on the Orono campus into one administrative body within the College of Arts and Sciences.

The School offers degrees in music, theatre, and dance and organizes various events on campus in the Minsky Recital Hall, Hauck Auditorium, and Collins Center; in the community; and beyond. The records mainly contain event programs; also correspondence regarding the School of Music's accreditation from the National Association of School of Music (NASM).
