Project Abstract/ Summary
"Dear Darwin", the opening concert of our 2013-I4 Faculty Chamber Series, will feature soprano Nancy Ellen Ogle and pianist Ginger Yang Hwalek in song settings by Maine composer Scott Brickman of Kathleen Ellis' book of poetry inspired by Charles Darwin. These songs are being recorded this year for a commercial album on the Parma Recording label. Professor Scott Brickman of the UM Fort Kent Music Department, will travel to Orono to meet with music classes and talk about the concert, the collaboration and the music recording industry. He will also narrate the concert, which will feature visual projections of work of our Professor Susan Groce (Art).
