Project Abstract/ Summary

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has organized a series of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin . The Origin of Species is arguably one of the most important scientific publications of the last 200 years. The implications of the theory of natural selection are still being worked out across a wide variety of disciplines in the natural and social sciences. An interdisciplinary course on Darwin (lNT 289 A Celebration of Darwin ) is being taught this semester, there will be a series of public events in November during the week that includes the actual sesquicentennial anniversary date, and Fogler library has created a series of displays which illustrate the impact of Darwin's work.
