Project Abstract/ Summary
The School of Performing Arts is inviting Pam Chabora to come to the University of Maine to treat the campus population and the general public to a one-woman production that will bring Emily Dickinson's work to life. The play, called "The Belle of Amherst" will be performed by Chabora, a veteran stage actor and professor of theatre and dance at North Dakota State University. The two-act play highlights the events of Dickinson's life, sprinkled with selections of her poetry. According to Chabora, when the audience hears those poems quoted in the context of Dickinson's personal life, they gain an even greater appreciation for Dickinson's timeless works.
